Food for Families Food Drive

Submitted by Patrick Bisera / Schubert Restituto Blessed Frederic Ozanam Many thanks to all who participated in this year's Food for Families program, the Knights of Columbus Blessed Frederic Ozanam Council 17065 received over 2,500 lbs of non-perishable food items and $795 in cash. Launched eight years ago, the council has been conducting this food drive yearly during the Lenten Season. The principal beneficiaries of this year's campaign were the Markham Food Bank and the Cornerstone Pantry, both in Markham. Submitted by Tom Mitchell St. Basil's St. Basil's Council 13442 in Brantford held their Lenten Food Drive on March 28th, 2026. Thanks to the generous donations from parishioners of St. Basil's church, we collected 2,141 pounds of food, toiletries and hygiene items. All items were immediately donated to the St. Vincent De Paul Brantford and will be distributed to those in need in our community.

Thanks to the dedicated support of Fr. Samir, council members were able to serve a delicious meal to more than 200 parishioners and their families. Starting with a Mass at 8:30 a.m. the retreat went on until noon, well attended by about 80 parishioners. Traditionally the council presented the "Seven Last Words of Jesus on the Cross” n program. Submitted by Chris Naus, District Deputy District 77 I want to thank my 5 Grand Knights for actively promoting this year's Men's Lenten Retreat.  Particular thanks goes to Joe Wigglesworth, the Grand Knight of Good Shephard parish, and his council for hosting.  And, a special thanks to Father Anthony, the parish priest for being so welcoming. In 2024, we had 47 men attend our inaugural Men's Lenten Retreat.  Last year, we had 60 men attend.  This year, we had 80 men attend.  We have also experienced a substantial rise in the number of men who went to Confession during the retreat [...]
