District 100 Hockey Challenge in April

Submitted by Greg Lougheed, District Deputy District 100 A total of 143 girls and boys, ages 9–13, competed in the Knights of Columbus Hockey Challenge held in April. Students from St. Stephen’s, St. Mary’s, and St. Michael’s Catholic Elementary Schools in Cayuga, Hagersville, and Dunnville took part in the event. Each participant took 15 shots on a net featuring openings with different point values. The score sheets of the champions from each division will now be compared with those of champions from five other schools across Ontario to determine the Provincial Champion. Photo shows Council Chaplain Fr. David Twaddle, Grand Knight Ikenna Anyaehie, Fourth Degree members of the Msgr. Bench Assembly, and members of St. Joseph the Worker Council 9989 with Cardinal Leo. Special thanks to the members of the council who volunteered to assist with parking lot traffic control, set up the church hall, and serve as ushers at the Mass.

Members of the council gathered at the new fire hall to present some of the recipients with their share of the $55,000 raised during the council’s Annual Chili Cook-off held on April 18. This marks the 10th year the council has organized this fundraiser, which continues to make a meaningful impact in the community. Food for Families Food Drive

Submitted by Patrick Bisera / Schubert Restituto Blessed Frederic Ozanam Many thanks to all who participated in this year's Food for Families program, the Knights of Columbus Blessed Frederic Ozanam Council 17065 received over 2,500 lbs of non-perishable food items and $795 in cash. Launched eight years ago, the council has been conducting this food drive yearly during the Lenten Season. The principal beneficiaries of this year's campaign were the Markham Food Bank and the Cornerstone Pantry, both in Markham. Submitted by Tom Mitchell St. Basil's St. Basil's Council 13442 in Brantford held their Lenten Food Drive on March 28th, 2026. Thanks to the generous donations from parishioners of St. Basil's church, we collected 2,141 pounds of food, toiletries and hygiene items. All items were immediately donated to the St. Vincent De Paul Brantford and will be distributed to those in need in our community.
