District 100 Hockey Challenge in April

Submitted by Greg Lougheed, District Deputy District 100 A total of 143 girls and boys, ages 9–13, competed in the Knights of Columbus Hockey Challenge held in April. Students from St. Stephen’s, St. Mary’s, and St. Michael’s Catholic Elementary Schools in Cayuga, Hagersville, and Dunnville took part in the event. Each participant took 15 shots on a net featuring openings with different point values. The score sheets of the champions from each division will now be compared with those of champions from five other schools across Ontario to determine the Provincial Champion. Members of the council gathered at the new fire hall to present some of the recipients with their share of the $55,000 raised during the council’s Annual Chili Cook-off held on April 18. This marks the 10th year the council has organized this fundraiser, which continues to make a meaningful impact in the community.
