Food for Families – Thanksgiving Food Donation Drive to Good Shepherd Ministry

Submitted by GK SK Yolando FernandesSt. Barnabas CouncilMembers of St. Barnabas Council 13785 held a Thanksgiving Food Donation Drive for Good Shepherd Ministry-downtown Toronto during the weekend of Saturday 12th October - Monday 14th October 2024. We collected a total of 1,567 lbs of non perishable food and $ 190/- in monetary funds. WGK thanks the pastoral team, parishioners and all brother knights involved for helping with the collection, packing and delivery. GSM serves daily free meals to the poor and shelter to the homeless.

Holy Hour Fatima Devotion

Submitted by GK SK Yolando FernandesSt. Barnabas CouncilMembers of St. Barnabas Council 13785 along with Honor Guards from Bishop Greco Assembly 2113 participated in the Holy Hour Fatima Devotion on Sunday 13th October 2024 at St. Barnabas Parish, with holy mass at 7pm, followed by procession & Eucharistic Adoration thereafter. There were approx 500+ parishioners along with brother knights & their families. Knights (Joseph Fox, James McLean and Joey Castaneda) carried the statue of Our Blessed Mother during procession. Submitted by Daniel BoyerSt Theresa the Little Flower On October 12 2024 St Theresa the Little Flower Council 16005 in Ottawa with Couple for Christ participated in a vigil day during the 2024 campaign of 40 days for life. During the day their was 7 members that did one hour of prayer near the abortion clinic in Ottawa to pray for the end of abortion.

Raising funds for Pro Life

Submitted by Rolland BesnerOntario Council 755On October 6th our Council took part in raising funds for Pro Life at Blessed Sacrament and St. Peters Church. The event was chaired by Brother Norman Fontaine and included upwards of ten volunteers selling at the various masses. Pictured are Financial Secretary Norman Fontaine Chairman and Deacon Richard Murphy of St. Peters Parish in Cornwall. Our Council 755 topped up the receipts and made a donation to Pro Life in the amount of $ 1,000.00.

Life Chain at St. Barnabas Parish

Submitted by GK SK Yolando FernandesSt. Barnabas CouncilMembers of the Knights of Columbus St. Barnabas Council 13785 participated in the Life Chain event on Sunday 6th October 2024 from 2-3pm. Brother Knights distributed the placards to the parishioners, monitored the crowd at the 4 intersections in front of our parish and collected the placards after the event. It was a peaceful event with approx 250 attendees and praying the rosary. Thanks to all Brother Knights, parishioners, other ministries of St. Barnabas Parish, along with our pastoral team, in showing their support to Pro Life.

Thanksgiving Food Drive

Thanks to the generous donations of the parishioners of St. Basil's Parish, we collected 1,208 pounds of food, toiletries and hygiene supplies. All items were donated to the St. Vincent DePaul Brantford Food Bank. All items will be distributed to those in need in the community.

District 1 Exemplification

Submitted by Nicholas Quadrini, District DeputyDistrict 11District 1 (home of the first council in Ontario) held its first district-wide exemplification on September 28th. The exemplification team led by Our Lady of Fatima Council 9742 welcomed 15 new candidates into the order across three councils (St Pats (Pioneer) 485, Our Lady of Fatima 9742, and St George's 12124). Many council leaders said this was one of the largest exemplification classes ever seen in the district. DD Nicholas Quadrini also presented GK Doug McKenzie (9742) with his 2023-24 Father McGivney Award for Membership Excellence.

Submitted by Hikmat Michel DandanJESUS THE KING In order to encourage and provide financial assistance to Ontario Melkite Catholic students entering post-secondary studies, Jesus the King Council 15045 announced in all its Ontario parishes a total of three scholarship awards of $1,000.00 each to be granted. The Scholarship Awards were based on scholastic achievement, community service, financial needs and personal hardship situation. The qualifications to apply, require that the student must be entering postsecondary School and must be a Melkite Catholic living anywhere in Ontario.
