Submitted by Gary Megaffin, Media Public RelationsThe historic St. Mary’s Parish Hall, Kitchener was the scene of the Waterloo District Catholic School Board Foundation’s 11th Annual Bishop’s Banquet, May 18, in honour of Auxiliary Bishop, Most Reverend Daniel Miehm of Hamilton. Kitchener Knights of Columbus was highlighted as a major “Silver Level” sponsor of the event. The 4th Degree Honour Guard from Council 1504 ushered Bishop Miehm into the hall at the commencement of the festivities. A presentation by the Bishop and a silent auction rounded out the evening. Nathan is a member of the Region 8 Basketball team that will be travelling to Guelph at the end of May. He plays basketball on his net at his house every day and Brother Dean Broennle was constantly fixing his old net until the day came where it was beyond repair. Submitted by PGK SK Patrick Rusheleau - Communications DirectorOn Saturday, May 14, 2016 twenty-two members of Resurrection of Our Lord Council 13701 based in the Alta Vista area of the City of Ottawa operated a Shred-it “Identity Theft Prevention” program. Where members of the Ottawa community could bring their sensitive personal papers, and for a small fee, watch as a “Shred-it Company” technician shredded the material as they watched. In a five hour period the council raised nearly $ 2,000 to support their charitable and community Service work.

Submitted by Mike Meady G.K.Multi Council Food Drive for Thunder Bay's Dew Drop Inn Soup Kitchen at St. Andrews. This May the Knights Councils in Thunder Bay Conducted a food drive at the city's Metro Grocery stores. The community was extremely generous donating over 7 1/2 ton truck loads of non perishable goods to this worthwhile cause. These goods should help the Dew Drop Inn provide nourishing meals to the homeless and less fortunate in our community for a couple of months. Feeding the hungry is an act of Mercy, and one that Knights of Columbus rally behind often.

Students from each school were recognized for their exceptional Catholic Leadership as well as community leaders.
