Submitted by The local Special Olympics Athletes joined the float to hand out special treats to all of the children that braved the cold to come and watch the parade. Led by G.K. Larry Pankuch, 25 brothers from all six councils built a traditional Nativity Scene complete with stable and newly restored statues of the Holy Family. Six councils of District 14 Knights of Columbus, Thunder Bay, band together with Special Olympic athletes to promote "Keep Christ in Christmas"

Monsignor Vid Vlasic praised the sponsors for welcoming these students in Jesus name because the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to those children of God. He blessed the sponsors and asked the Lord who sees their generosity to give them 100 fold. Because it is in the Holy Land, where Jesus Christ walked, preached, was crucified and rose from the dead. Because our Holy Father and Supreme Knight urge us to support the persecuted Christians in the Middle East. Because we are Catholic which as H.E. The Mass was celebrated this year on Sunday 21st October at 12:30 in St Justin Martyr Church on Highway #7, Markham. Rev. Monsignor Vid Vlasic celebrated the Mass. Around 25 sponsors were present to receive their student files from Monsignor Vid which include the profile of the student, his grades, a thank you card from the student, a letter from the Melkite Catholic Patriarchate School, Shepherds Fields in Beit Sahour near Bethlehem, a letter from the Melkite Catholic Archbishop of Jerusalem and a receipt that the sponsorship [...]
