At last, St Valentine’s message of love, won over the two year awful pandemic. Originally, St. Valentine was a Roman priest in the third century who performed secret weddings for young soldiers against the wish of the emperor. Thank you St Valentine and thanks to Brother John Gideon, who is the chairman of the Valentine Knight (with a K) for his good organization of this annual event of Jesus the King Council for several years. This event that took place in Finicia Lebanese restaurant, is the financial heart of the council that funds some of its expenses with a part also that is donated to Jesus the King Melkite Catholic Church. The Valentine Party sold 120 covers. The food was excellent. The Lebanese Mezze appetizers were so yummy: Hummus, Baba Ganoush, Labneh, Falafel, Tabbouleh, Kibbi raw and fried, Fatouch followed by the main plate of chicken, kofta, kebab with garlic sauce and fries, and lastly the Lebanese pastries, Shaabiyat, stuffed with Kashta cream, really very filling. The raffle was successful and generated a handsome profit for the council. Special thanks to the Valentine Knights’ team that helped Chairman John in selling the covers. Thanks to SK Ibrahim, SK Rami, SK Tarek, Bro. Shadi. Let us not forget our Church Council Chairman Elie Moussaed who donated all the valuable prizes of the raffle. Above all, special thanks to MS Alita Gideon, the charming eloquent daughter of Chairman John who was the MC. A lot of appreciation to the star singer Ronnie Tahhan who sang nonstop for 4 hours keeping pace with the good mood of the crowd doing the Dabke dance and stomping their feet to the beat. Above all, thanks to our chaplain Monsignor Makarios and St Valentine’s blessings of love. Celebrate with us next year and you would remember it for a long time.
