Councils from all over Chatham – Kent and 2 from Essex County have been helping out with the Chatham – Kent Barnstormers IBL (Intercounty Baseball League) Baseball team during their Inaugural season.

There was a total of 10 councils that helped to pull this all together. The main council that started it all was Council 7744. The following Councils that helped out were 2356, 8783, 2775, 1412, 2102, 9551, 11891.

Emile, Peter, Helene Vercouteren were the coordinators of this massive event. That lasted from May 10 – Aug 24th. This was a very big undertaking as we were in charge of the Admission tickets, Food tickets, Food, Beer, 50/50, Seating of people, Setup/take down of all the tents and equipment that we used.

Every volunteer would be there for about 8 – 10 hours every game. There was a total of 23 home games. Which included 1 pregame and 1 playoff game. And there was about 45 volunteers every game. Included in the volunteers was adults and teenagers from all over the county. Including my grandson that came from Guelph for most of the games. Then he became their bat boy for there away games.

We did approximately 10,350 volunteer hours for this event.

We were also announced at all games at the diamond and on their You tube broadcasts. Even on the other teams broadcasts we would be mentioned about how we were doing this.

Getting rave reviews from out of town guests and other teams for how helpful and courteous we were and how well everything was run and not running out of food like the other diamonds.

Also do to us working with the Barnstormers it resulted in us also volunteering in doing the Minor Baseball events as well.
