On June 9, 2018, the Knights of Columbus participated in a ceremony to dedicate Veterans Square and Cenotaph in the City of Makrham, with unveiling of a plaque on the Cenotaph “In Honour Of Those Who Serve and In Remembrance Of Those Who Fell”. The photo was taken with the Town Crier of the City of Markahm, John Webster. A town crier, also called a bellman, is an officer of the court who makes public pronouncements as required by the court. He can also be used to make public announcements in the streets. Criers often dress elaborately, by a tradition dating to the 18th century, in a red and gold coat, white breeches, black boots and a tricorne hat. They carry a handbell to attract people’s attention.
