Kingsville K of C Helps Keep the Cold at Bay. The Kingsville K of C resurrected their New Coats for Kids Campaign this Fall after seeing a need to help supply new winter coats for students all over Essex County.
On October 14th the Knights hosted a pasta benefit at the Kingsville Pavilion. Through monetary and food donations from many individuals and businesses, the Knights we able to purchase 120 new coats for students in schools in Kingsville, Leamington and Windsor.
“The attendance at the Pasta benefit was under what we expected, but the donations we received were so generous that they pushed us passed our goal of buying 100 coats.” Said Paul Johnson co-Chair of the event. “We thank all those who supported the event.”
The schools in Kingsville were the first to receive coats this week. “Our hometown schools are our first priority. We then expand our radius to support County Schools then finally end up donating in Windsor” explains Johnson.
“There is such a need out there that we can’t fill every order. 120 coats is just a drop in the bucket. Next year we have to make a larger impact to keep up with the demand.”
In the end, the coats were delivered to 15 schools in Windsor Essex County. Just in time for the winter to arrive.
