Submitted by Gary Megaffin, Public Relations, MediaSponsored by the Waterloo Catholic District School Board, the ‘Beacons of Hope’ recognition program recognizes those students who excel in exceptional Catholic leadership. Students are selected with one from elementary and two from secondary schools. As well, selected community organizations are recognized for their community leadership. The Beacons of Hope event is hosted in each community during the spring in the form of breakfast celebrations where the student, parents, principal, parish priest, superintendent, director and trustees are invited. Submitted by Gary Megaffin Public Relations, MediaFather Larry Parent and the Blessed Sacrament Refugee Sponsorship Committee were the recipients of $ 1,000.00 presented on behalf of Council 1504 by GK Brian Schmalz and DGK Dave Obermeyer. The K of C donation will assist the Committee is their charitable quest to support a Syrian refugee family coming to Canada. The Committee consists of Fr. Larry, Sheila & Sean Sage; Cathy Walsh; Tom & Mary Borys and Stephen & Kathy Lance.
