In 1992 they changed their mandate to meet the evolving needs of the community, providing housing and support services for pregnant and parenting women and their children. Marillac Place resolves to give mothers the tools to become effective parents and self-supporting, responsible members of the community.

Submitted by Gary Megaffin Media, Public RelationsThe Most Reverend Douglas Crosby, OMI, Bishop of Hamilton Diocese was honoured at the Ontario Knights of Columbus (District 69) Annual Bishop's Charity Dinner. Kitchener Council 1504 sent 10 delegates to this enjoyable evening held at The Basilica of Our Lady Immaculate, 28 Norfolk Street Guelph, Sunday October 16th. Also in attendance was Ontario State Deputy Alain Cayer on hand supporting our local Councils.

Through a generous K of C donation from Council 1504 they were able to give out almost 200 free booklets and 200 CDs with information about the Catholic Faith. A prayer intentions box was very popular with prayer intentions offered up at Mass at St. Mary’s prayed for by the St. Mary’s Prayer Network. Submitted by Gary Megaffin Media, Public RelationsThe highly successful Shred-It Event, as part of the K of C Great Spring Cleanup, raised enough funds to allow Council 1504 to donate $ 1,000.00 to the Food Bank of Waterloo Region. Accepting the cheque on behalf of the Food Bank were Bailey Armitage, Community Events Coordinator and Trish Marinoni, Partnership Manager. On hand for the presentation were Grand Knight Brian Schmalz, Deputy Grand Knight Dave Obermeyer and Shred-It Event coordinator Brother Peter Penlington.

Submitted by Gary Megaffin Media, Public RelationsMarilynne Feeney, Chairperson of the Family Council for the Forest heights Long Term Care Facility in Kitchener, officially opened their two new pergolas in the bright sunshine of Friday June 3rd. The residents and staff of the home can now enjoy the garden areas under the shade of their pergolas, well constructed by K of C members of Council 1504. The Knights spent several days assembling the two additions and were rewarded by the gratitude extended by staff and residents.

Submitted by Gary Megaffin, Media Public RelationsThe historic St. Mary’s Parish Hall, Kitchener was the scene of the Waterloo District Catholic School Board Foundation’s 11th Annual Bishop’s Banquet, May 18, in honour of Auxiliary Bishop, Most Reverend Daniel Miehm of Hamilton. Kitchener Knights of Columbus was highlighted as a major “Silver Level” sponsor of the event. The 4th Degree Honour Guard from Council 1504 ushered Bishop Miehm into the hall at the commencement of the festivities. A presentation by the Bishop and a silent auction rounded out the evening. Over 50,000 have been distributed to missions, schools, the armed forces and prison ministries world-wide.
