The Knights of Columbus Maharlika Council celebrated its 45th anniversary with a dinner/dance attended by 120 members and guests at the Rouge River Community Centre in Markham, Ontario. Founded on January 9, 1980, Maharlika was the first all Filipino council established in Canada. With no fixed church address, the council brought the Filipino Catholic experience to Canada and introduced them to the parish communities they served in the Toronto area. There were approximately 25 members in attendance who witnessed an exemplification which saw 5 new members join the Council 755. This brings their intake for this fraternal year to 33 new members. With each new Exemplification, the title of Circle of Honour is becoming increasingly within reach for the province. Well done team!. Marcel Damphousse. Poulin, State DeputyOn April 24, our State Deputy, along with several dozen Sir Knights and brothers from various councils across the Greater Ottawa area and Cornwall gathered for the unveiling of the third Knights of Columbus monument. The first one, constructed in 1922 in Midland (Carhagouha Cross); the second one was constructed in 1967 in Windsor (Pray for Peace Monument) and now the third monument, that has been designed, funded and constructed by the Knights of Columbus is dedicated to our homeless veteran community.
