St. Barnabas Council 13785

The higher purpose of Special Olympics is to celebrate the worth and dignity of every human
being through the Special Olympics
.

The Knights of Columbus has been a great supporter of this unique program and has helped
disabled athletes train and compete in games around the world. Without the support of
organisations like Knights of Columbus, participants would not be able to train for events that
they love.

This year the KOFC Ontario State encouraged all councils to take advantage of this unique
opportunity regarding the partnering campaign that Special Olympics has formed with Tim
Horton’s. The campaign was from January 28th – 30th, 2022. Tim Horton’s created the limited
edition #ChoosetoInclude Donut, during this 3 day period, whereby 100% of the proceeds from
donut sales will go directly to local Special Olympics community programs, supporting more
than 41,000 athletes with an intellectual disability across Canada.

The Knights of Columbus Council 13785 did their small part by purchasing 2 dozen donuts to
support this worthy cause. Furthermore the 2 boxes of donuts were donated to front line
workers. Three members from Council 13785 – WGK Francis Domingo, Bro. Yolando Fernandes
and Bro. Abe Bayon-On, delivered the 2 boxes of donuts to the Toronto Fire Station 213, on
7 Lapsley Rd, Scarborough-ON, just across St. Barnabas Parish.

Not only did our council support the needs of the Special Olympics program but we also
appreciated our front line workers by donating the donuts to them. This gesture was warmly
accepted by the firemen and put a huge smile on their faces.
