JESUS THE KING COUNCIL SUPPORTS FIRST HOLY COMMUNION
At the end of May, Jesus The King Melkite Catholic Church joyfully celebrated the Holy Communion of 13 beloved sons and daughters in Christ. After eight months of preparation under the guidance of Monsignor Makarios Wehbi and catechist Mrs Claude Hanna, 10 families gathered at The Cathedral of The Transfiguration for this blessed occasion.
The children were taught the foundations of their faith—including the Old and New Testaments, the Apostles' Creed, and the spirit of the Melkite Catholic Church. They also learned the sacred meaning of the Eucharist and the importance of the Church in their lives.
Sponsored by Jesus the King Knights of Columbus council, each child received a special gift: their first Bible with a heartfelt note from Monsignor Makarios reminding them that the Church is always their home, in both joy and hardship, along with a rosary, a bookmark, a Byzantine icon of the Holy Mother of God, and blessed Holy Bread to share with their families. It was a day filled with faith and deep spiritual joy for all.
Brother Hikmat, the Deputy Grand Knight of Jesus the King council and Ontario Director of Christian Refugee Relief, encourages all Knights of Columbus councils to support the First Holy Communion in their churches.
