JESUS THE KING BINGO KNIGHTS RAISE $90,000 FOR CHARITY
Jesus the King Knights of Columbus Council organized an appreciation dinner at Tarboush Lebanese restaurant in Mississauga for the volunteers of the Bingo Knights & Ladies who went out of their way working late hours during 2024 to raise more than $90,000 that was donated to around 35 initiatives which fairly represent the various types of needs of the community in Ontario from food banks, to mother & baby, to youth ministry, to special Olympics, to veterans, the homeless, the vulnerable, Jesus the King church projects and many others.
After the accidental fire in 2016 that damaged Jesus the King Melkite Catholic Church at 1 Lyndhurst Drive, Deputy Grand Knight Hikmat founded the project and lined up around 25 charities that benefited from the charitable gaming donations. He formed a WHATSAPP group and branded it BINGO KNIGHTS to give it a marketing appeal & personality and facilitate communications & volunteering. It has around 25 dedicated proud volunteers from the council as well as ladies from Jesus the King church.
All the charities whose logos appear in the slide benefit from the donations: Arthritis Society, Birthright, Compassionate Community Care, Daily Bread Food Bank, Toronto Sisters of Life, St Vincent De Paul, Knights Table Restaurant, Richmond Hill Food Bank, Scott Mission, Canadian Bible Society, North York Harvest Food Bank, Covenant House, Habitat for Humanity, Special Olympics, Catholic Family Services, Catholic Children’s Aid, Canadian Melkite Youth Convention, IMAC Youth Ministry, Martyrs Shrine, Jesus the King Church First Communion, Salvation Army, Royal Canadian Legion Sweeney Fund & Service Dog, Catholic Missions, ORAT Office for Refugees, St Michael’s Hospital Foundation, and Silent Voice.
Thanks to OLG, Bingo World, and the City of Richmond Hill for their support. In charitable gaming, there are always TWO WINNERS, the actual player who wins the BINGO is the first winner, and the second winner is the Charity which benefits the needy in Ontario.
