//Passing the Torch – D-Day Ceremony at Veterans’ House Canada.
Submitted by Bruce Poulin.

On May 19 our State Deputy was invited to attend the Canadian Remembrance Torch and their “Echoes of Gratitude Tour” event held at Veterans House Canada in Ottawa. Essentially, the torch (designed by students from McMaster University) was lit from the Centennial Flame on Parliament Hill on May 10, followed by a 10-day tour in Ottawa before leaving from Toronto to Normandy, France, (Beny-sur-mer and Bretteville-sur-Laize Canadian War Cemeteries and the Juno Beach Museum) and a couple of days in the Netherlands. Given our cardinal virtue of Patriotism, reframing Remembrance to engage the next generation, with a focus on peace and freedom is a cause we are proud to support.
