On Saturday October 22, 2022, a Memorial Service was held at Heavenly Rest Cemetery, inside the St. Francis of Assisi Mausoleum, to honour all Brother Knights and the families of, who had passed away since the beginning of 2019, thru October 2022. This was done as due to COVID and the restrictions imposed, we were not provided the opportunity to properly pay our respects to these Brothers Knights.
The Service was presided over by Fr. Gary Goyeau, assisted by Fr. Mike Parent. Music was provided by Songbirds, sisters Nancy and Stephanie Asciak. Fourth Degree from the Dean Wagner Assembly, led by Master Gord Edwards and Marshall Steve Ilijanich, along with members from Alphonse Kerckhaert, Louis Boue and W.J. Langlois Assemblies, provided the Honour Guard.
We were also honoured to have Ontario State Board represented with the presence of State Treasurer David Gelinas.
Councils throughout the London West Diocesan Association (Territory 9) were invited to provide the names of their deceased members during this period, along with a Council representative to read aloud these names during the time of remembrance. Each was also asked to personally reach out to the families of their deceased members and invite them to this service.
In all, 35 of 43 Councils and 4 of 9 Assemblies were represented, with 410 names of fallen Brother Knights being read aloud.
Following the Service inside St Francis mausoleum, a procession was done with all in attendance, to the site of the Blessed Fr. McGivney Icon, for a final prayer and blessing, before dismissal.
