Divine Mercy
What is Divine Mercy? [i]
The Divine Mercy Message is about the immeasurable Love God has for us and is as easy as ABC.
A – Ask for God’s Mercy (Sacrament of Reconciliation)
B – Be merciful to others (Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us)
C – Completely trust in Jesus (Truly believe unceasingly in God’s Love for us)
God loves us, all of us, no matter how great our sins. He wants us to recognize that His Mercy is greater than our sins so that we will call upon Him with trust, receive His Mercy, and let it flow through us to others.
“Divine Mercy” is the form God’s love takes when it flows from the Trinity to us.
“Jesus Christ is the Face of the Father’s Mercy”, Pope Francis explains in the Face of Mercy.
“Mercy is Love’s second Name”, St John Paul II explained in Rich in Mercy.
Jesus gave messages to St. Maria Faustina Kowalska through a series of revelations in the 1930s which are compiled into a Diary, giving us a deeper revelation of the Heart of God. Both St Faustina and St. John Paull II came from Poland which suffered grave persecution in the 20th century. Some quotes from the Diary:
“I don’t want to punish aching mankind, but I desire to heal it, pressing it to My Merciful Heart” (1588)
“The greater the sinner, the greater the right he has to My Mercy” (723)
