Thanksgiving Message 2022-10-07T17:29:32+00:00

Dear Brother Knights,

Marcel Lemmen, State Deputy KofC Ontario

“In all created things discern the providence and wisdom of God, and in all things give Him thanks.” – St. Teresa of Avila

This year we are especially thankful to Almighty God for a return to normal after two years of pandemic restrictions. We pray that our lives are not disrupted by pandemics again. We also pray for those we lost and for healing from injuries both physical and mental. As Catholics, acts of prayer and thanksgiving are the most effective ways of repairing our lives and relationships. On behalf of my wife, Charlene, and daughter, Grace, I wish you and your families a blessed Thanksgiving holiday.

Vivat Jesus!

Dear Brother Knights,

For Catholics and Knights of Columbus, Thanksgiving is much more than a special day on the calendar. God urges us to live a life of thanksgiving each day. Being thankful to Him for all of His blessings marks us as Christians. We’ve read or sung Psalm 118:1 at Mass many times: “Give thanks to the Lord for He is good, His love is everlasting.”

Reminding ourselves of God’s love and goodness is especially important this year. It lifts us out of the sadness and depression caused by the illnesses, deaths, restrictions and frustrations of the pandemic. A worthwhile exercise this holiday weekend is to sit down with pen and paper and make a list of the ten things you are most grateful for. Not only does it praise God, it will do your spirit a world of good as well.

May you celebrate the occasion of Thanksgiving, surrounded by family and friends, by thanking Almighty God for all the good he has brought into your life. A very Happy Thanksgiving to you.

Vivat Jesus!
