March for Life – Ottawa

Submitted by Eardley Adams Blessed Frederic Ozanam Council 17065, Markham Ontario Blessed Frederic Ozanam (BFO) Parish Council organized a Bus trip to Ottawa in cooperation with St Patrick's Parish and St Mark's Parish. The Bus accommodated 56 passenger's and the cost per person was capped at $30 per person, the remainder was subsidized by the three local Parishes and the generous support of a Brother Knight. When the word got out we quickly filled the bus with parishes from Scarborough who joined us on our journey to Ottawa. A very joyous and fulfilling day was had by all.

Sacramental Gifts – 1st Communion

Submitted by Eardley Adams Blessed Frederic Ozanam Parish Markham Council 17065 As part of the Faith In Action - Faith Programs - Sacramental Gifts, The Blessed Frederic Ozanam Council donated 125 Knights of Columbus Rosaries and 125 Guide to saying the Rosary, to every child taking their First Communion. Divine Mercy

Submitted by Eardley Adams Blessed Frederic Ozanam Parish Markham Because of our circumstances of not having a church and rely on the School Board and Permits, Father relented and allowed us to have the Divine Mercy 9 Mass Novena. The Knights distributed Divine Mercy chaplets at all the 9 Masses as people entered the School and were also tasked with leading the Divine Mercy at all 9 masses. 40 Lbs. For Lent – Food Drive

Submitted by Eardley Adams Blessed Frederic Ozanam Parish Markham Council 17065 This program was another new one for the Council, we had done a Food Drive before but not one that lasted for 6 weeks. We had some decisions to make as to how to collect the food, what kind of food, where were we going to take it once we collected it etc. We received the much needed support of Father Ricardo our Pastor the rest was simply a process of collecting, packaging, weighing, recording and donating it of the Cornerstone Pantry a nearby Church who cater to the poor [...]

Council 17065 – 40 lbs. for Lent – Food Drive

Submitted by Eardley AdamsBlessed Frederic Ozanam Parish Markham Council 17065 The result of the very successful Food Drive was that we collected 2000 lbs. of food and $740 in monetary donations. 911 lbs. of Food and $370 was donated to the Cornerstone Pantry and 1,090 lbs. of food and $370 in a Cheque, Food Coupon and Cash was donated to the Markham Food Bank.

Wheelchair Fundraiser

Submitted by Eardley Adams Blessed Frederic Ozanam Parish Markham, Council 17065 April 2nd and 3rd, 2022 was set aside for the Wheelchair Fundraiser, we borrowed an official KofC wheelchair from State to help the congregation visualize what they were contributing towards. Placard's, posters, flyers and other hand-out materials were available including pins which were presented to everyone that made a donation. We had never run with this program before which was an additional challenge being a new and very small parish compounded by the difficulty presented by the pandemic we really had to set our sights low 2 may be 3 [...]

St Patrick's Day Mass on St Patrick's Day with His Eminence Cardinal Thomas Collins

Submitted by Eardley AdamsSt John Paul IISt John Paul II Assembly 3325 performed a limited Honor Guard for the St Patrick's Day evening Mass at St Patrick's Parish Church in Markham. Although the Assembly was limited in its Uniform it was the first Honor Guard at the Church in a very long time. We all had an opportunity to meet with the Cardinal and Clergy after Mass for a brief photo opp. See photo below.
