Light-Up for Christmas

Wattson Council 8919 withe permission of the pastor of Our Lady of the Atonement Parish (Forest Glade - Windsor), erects a nativity, a Keep Christ in Christmas Sign and decorates trees at the entrance to the parish parking lot at the beginning of advent. Prior to the Council meeting in December, the members of the parish, local community and Council are invited to attend the blessing of the nativity and sign, and to share in hot chocolate and cookies provided by the Council in the adjacent St. Francis Hall.

Wattson Council 8919 conducted an in-person degree, inducting 5 candidates into three different Councils. Fr. Paul J.F. Wattson welcomed Brothers Nishant John and James Gillis, Windsor Most Precious Blood Council 1412 welcomed Brothers David Booker and Joe Gervais, and Mother Teresa Council 12494 welcomed Brother Nilo Colussi. Congratulations to each of these fine gentlemen who are eager to help each of their respective Councils moving forward.

Goodfellows Paper Drive

Wattson Council 8919 and St. John Vianney Council 9528 volunteered their time to help collect donations and distribute papers on behalf of Goodfellows of Windsor. Members staffed various store fronts on the east end of the city, in two separate shifts, 5:00 to 7:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 both days. Donations collected $5679.70, with an additional $1500 donated between the two Councils. Total returned to Goodfellows: $ 6179.70. Wattson Council 8919 (OLOTA Parish) and St. John Vianney Council 9528 (SJV Parish), held a joint Installation of Officers at Our Lady of the Atonement Parish, for the 2023/2024 fraternal year. We also purchased one box of adult coats. On November 22nd, GK Dave Algudady and Treasurer Dan Dumouchelle delivered one box of coats to each H.J. Lassaline and L.A. Desmarais Elementary Schools. We also delivered the one box of adult size coats to our local Unemployment Help Center.

Wattson Council 8919 holds an Annual Holiday Dinner in early December; and there is a long-standing tradition to invite every widow of a deceased member of our Council, to enjoy a complimentary dinner. With Windsor implementing tightened restrictions and having moved into the Grey Zone (or Lockdown), this year this dinner would be cancelled. Nevertheless, in keeping with Fr. Michael J. Bottle Drive for Special Olympics

Donations of empty alcoholic beverage containers were collected. Over Four Hundred dollars from returns and donations were sent to Special Olympics Ontario to support our young gifted athletes in their pursuit of athletic excellence. In addition the 'Special Olympics' flag, sponsored by the Knights of Columbus, was available for anyone interested in signing.
