Submitted by Gordon Bell Our Lady of the LakeOur fourth bottle drive of 2023 was held on Saturday October 21 in Grimsby at St. Josephs Parish. Many thanks to all the parishioners and friends of the Knights who dropped off their bottles to us. The many refundable. cyclable bottles are returned the the Brewers retail and the funds go back into out community charities.

COATS FOR KIDS

Submitted by Gordon Bell Our Lady of the LakeOn Tuesday we were blessed to donate 3 boxes of Coats for Kids to the Grimsby Benevolent Fund in Grimsby. Director of Programs, Ashly received our coats and ensured that they be help local kids keep warm this winter. On behalf of our council, thank you Ashly for all your good community work. We are proud to have a partnership with GBF. Funds were raised from bottle drives and our Trivia Knight fundraising event. Thank you Brothers Bryon, Bill. Mike and Mike for helping. GK Gord

Bernard Prevost represented the WW 11 veterans of Niagara and the Knights of Columbus on November 11, 2022, at the Remembrance Day ceremonies in Grimsby. Bernie now 98, is the last surviving WW11 veteran in the Niagara region and the last surviving charter member of Our Lady of the Lake council 4917. At the age of 20, Bernie's regiment, the Stormont Dundas Glengarry Highlanders stormed Juno Beach, France as part of the Allied offensive against Germany. Bernie moved to Grimsby after [...]

Coats for Kids

Submitted by Gordon Bell Our Lady of the LakeOur Lady of the Lake Grimsby brothers donating Coats for Kids to the Grimsby Benevolent Fund located in Grimsby. Our coats will be provided to children in need in our community. Our brothers volunteer their time on Wednesdays at GBF helping in the food bank. Our council has a long proud relationship with GBF by volunteering, donations and the last several years helping to keep children warm with the Knights Coats for Kids program.

Submitted by Christopher TurnerOur Lady of the LakeCouncil 4917 of St Joseph Parish entered a float in the Grimsby Christmas Parade which took place on December 4, 2021. Some 150 entries took part in this evening parade which began at 5:15 pm and proceeded through the main streets of Grimsby, Ontario. Our theme for the float was “Keep Christ in Christmas” and we included a Nativity Scene of Baby Jesus in the manger with Mary and Joseph watching prayerfully in wonder.
