Submitted by Fred Horvath, Grand Knight Fort William Council # 11268 On June 28, 2022, Grand Knight Fred Horvath and members of St. Francis of Assisi Council 11268 welcomed Worthy State Warden Henry Miller and District Deputy Hugh Penney to St. Francis Of Assisi Church in Newcastle, Ontario. The occasion was the presentation of a cheque for $6,224.00 for the Wheelchairs for Ukraine program. We thanked Worthy State Warden Henry for joining us for our Holy Hour happened on June 28. And this year we doubled over last year by 100% bringing in 2,358.9 pounds and $1,505.00 in cash donations In the picture, we have Brothers John and Lou, Deacon Doug who is the president of SVDP, two students, and a teacher from St. Francis of Assisi Elementary School.

For Knights of Columbus, charity means supporting a virtually boundless variety of projects. This fraternal year we are hoping to triple the work we do in our community. With COVID regulations and directives regarding in person dining in our parish hall, we have been unable to raise money to meet our target. We successfully ran a cash calendar lottery which was an overwhelming success. We are now holding a silent auction which ends on Sunday December 12 [...]
