The dedication was preceded by a parade from the Markham Veterans Association to the Veterans Square. At the dedication, a plaque on the Cenotaph was unveiled "In Honour Of Those Who Serve and In Remembrance Of Those Who Fell" and was followed by an Act of Remembrance, laying of wreaths and a dove release.

The scouts carried the statue of Our Lady The Ever Virgin, with the Knights providing honour guard service, to highlight solemnity of the activity.
