The event attended by Ontario State Deputy Sir Knight David Peters and the Christian Refugee Relief Director SK Hikmat Dandan and many other knights, and supporters was organized by CNEWA, a Papal Agency, Catholic Near East Welfare Association and the Archdiocese of Toronto. The keynote speaker was his Eminence Cardinal Thomas Collins. Wattson Council 8919 presented a $2000 cheque to St. Joseph High School Principle David LaButte (Windsor) to support their Breakfast Club Program, which provides less fortunate students who attend school without the means breakfast, a nutritious meal to allow them to be proficient in their studies.
Submitted by Paul JohnsonSt. John de BrebeufKingsville Council #8233 donated funds to Kingsville District High School for their construction class to build a cedar playhouse as their Grade 12 class Final Assignment. The Council then sold raffle tickets for the playhouse with all proceeds going to local charities. The winner of the playhouse donated it to Jack Miner Public School Kindergarten class. This single event helped 2 schools as well as many local charities!

At the rededication mass celebration, by His Eminence The Cardinal, Father Michael Hughes mentioned the history of founding the church in 1979. The expansion was also only made possible with many professionals volunteering and gifting their services and the generous donations of parishioners.
