KOFC 13785 Membership Drive

The event was supported by Worthy Chaplain Fr. Fraser McLaren, Fraternal Advisor-Field Agent Bro. Stephen Dugal and Pastor Fr. Hansoo Park. Cheque Presentation to Owen Sound and Area Special Olympics

Granottier Council 2092 Owen Sound members, PGK Jim Cummings, PGK Bruce Muise and Chancellor Randy Gaudet recently attended a 5 pin bowling session of The Owen Sound and Area Special Olympics and presented a cheque in the amount of $5,000 ( proceeds from Radio Bingo ) which is aired weekly on local radio station CFOS since March 2021 . To date K of C/ 560 CFOS 560 Radio Bingo has raised over $90.000 for Grey-Bruce charities including: Canadian Mental Health Association Youth Programs , Special Olympics , Families for Autism and Grey Bruce Pregnancy Centre

We also purchased one box of adult coats. On November 22nd, GK Dave Algudady and Treasurer Dan Dumouchelle delivered one box of coats to each H.J. Lassaline and L.A. Desmarais Elementary Schools. We also delivered the one box of adult size coats to our local Unemployment Help Center.

Helping Hands to St. Barnabas CWL Ministry

CWL Ministry recently conducted their Out of the Cold Donation Drive project asking for various household essentials and hygiene products for the poor people in our community. CWL reached out to KOFC 13785 for help. Winter Coats for Kids Donation Drive

The Knights collected a total of 26 bags of new and gently used winter coats, of which approx. 18-20 winter coats were brand new, of various sizes, for the ages requested, in addition to $20/- cash donation. Submitted by Jaime LibaqueSt Lawrence MartyrThe St Lawrence Martyr Council 13417 organized the successful distribution of 144 coats (12 cases) for Scarborough children. It has been the largest quantity since 2013 when the Council first embraced this program. This year 2022, we had business sponsorships from MeridianCU, UniforTheUnion, three other local Councils 3296,9143,9494 and partnered with the ACSA Community Center. More than 10 Brother Knights were present for the distribution and local Councillor Thompson was among the guests. We hope to get more Scarborough Councils to join for the future.

The newly created Council Degree Team consists of PSD Bob Cayea (Presider), PGK Dan Dumouchelle, PGK John Barron and current GK Dave Algudady as presenters, with Trustee John Sabga as Warden. Bernard Prevost represented the WW 11 veterans of Niagara and the Knights of Columbus on November 11, 2022, at the Remembrance Day ceremonies in Grimsby. Bernie now 98, is the last surviving WW11 veteran in the Niagara region and the last surviving charter member of Our Lady of the Lake council 4917. At the age of 20, Bernie's regiment, the Stormont Dundas Glengarry Highlanders stormed Juno Beach, France as part of the Allied offensive against Germany. Bernie moved to Grimsby after [...]
