Donation to St. Clement Parish

Submitted by Bruce S. Poulin, State Deputy St. Clement On May 10, three representatives of our State Board visited the Pastor of St. Clement parish at Ste. Anne's Church in Ottawa. They made a donation (through the Archdiocese of Ottawa-Cornwall) to be used for major renovations for their church. Supporting our Clergy is a critical part of putting our Faith in action as a Catholic fraternal not-for-profit organization. This support manifests itself in many ways - including donations.

Membership Drive Blessed Sacrament Church in Cornwall May 12.

Our team gathered the contact info for eleven new prospective members, many of whom have already joined online.

Mother’s Day Food Drive.

Submitted by Joe Crane.Pieta Once again, our Holy Cross parishioners demonstrated their generosity in support of our annual Mother's Day food drive organized by the CWL and our Knights. With the help from Les Otto and a Pod from HeyRay, we delivered a much needed 5,500 lbs. of food goods to the Georgetown Food Basket. Thank you to all who helped make this such a success.

Part of the celebrations saw Faithful Navigator, Socrates Furtado, presenting the Award of Excellence certificate to four members (holding certificates) for their extraordinary service to the Assembly.

Jesus The King supports the Etobicoke Melkite Catholic Mission

Submitted by Brother Hikmat Dandan Jesus the King Jesus the King Council sponsored and donated $2000 to its Etobicoke Melkite Catholic Mission to support "Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and After Mass Community Development" a new concept introduced by the council to encourage socializing between the families and their youth. It was attended by Most Reverend Canada Melkite Catholic Bishop Milad El Jawich who presided on the Sunday Mass at St. Ambrose Church assisted by Monsignor Makarios, Reverend Fadi, and Father Timothy. Exemplification of Charity, Unity and Fraternity.

Submitted by Roger Richard.St. Volodymyr the Great St. Volodymyr the Great Council 9557 hosted an Exemplification of Charity, Unity and Fraternity and made history for the first time, the Exemplification was in Ukrainian. Two members completed their Exemplification. The Ontario State Board was present at this historical event, with Worthy State Deputy Bruce Poulin, State Secretary David Gelinas, State Treasurer Joe Bodnar, State Advocate Henery Miller, and State Warden Earle DePass.

Chatham-Kent Barnstormers IBL Baseball

A.J.McNabbCouncils from all over Chatham - Kent and 2 from Essex County have been helping out with the Chatham - Kent Barnstormers IBL (Intercounty Baseball League) Baseball team during their Inaugural season. There was a total of 10 councils that helped to pull this all together. The main council that started it all was Council 7744. The following Councils that helped out were 2356, 8783, 2775, 1412, 2102, 9551, 11891. Emile, Peter, Helene Vercouteren were the coordinators of this massive event. On Sunday May 5, 2024 St. Joseph the Worker Council 9988 (Oshawa) held an Exemplification ceremony welcoming 5 new members into the Order and St. Hedwigs Council also welcomed one new member. Congratulations to these 6 new Knights. The 5 new members gave St. Joseph's Council a total of 19 new members surpassing over 200 percent of their quota.

Special Outdoor Prayer of the Rosay May 4.

Submitted by Bruce Poulin. On May 4, a special outdoor mass was held in front of San Juan City Hall in Puerto Rico. Hundreds gathered for prayer and our Canadian delegation was more than happy to join our counterpart Knights of Columbus in Puerto Rico and take part in this public prayer.

Centro Sol Isolina Ferre de Caimito Visit on May 4 in San Juan.

Submitted by Bruce Poulin. On May 4 the Knights went to Centro Sol Isolina de Caimito in San Juan to distribute several wheelchairs. The center acted as a distribution point where several people in need came to the centre to receive their KofC wheelchair. The expressions of gratitude, filled with tears, for putting our Faith in Action by helping the people in Puerto Rico will always be treasured memories. Proud to be a Knight.
