Pentecost is a key feast in the Christian liturgical calendar, celebrated 50 days after Easter Sunday (hence the name "Pentecost," derived from the Greek pentēkostē, meaning "fiftieth"). It marks the outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon the apostles and the early followers of Jesus, as described in the Acts of the Apostles (Acts 2).
