The founder & chairman of Jerusalem Students GK Hikmat Dandan presented an Appreciation Certificate from the Patriarchal Vicar & Archbishop of Jerusalem Most Reverend Yaser Al-Ayyash to GK Armando Gamboa of St. Justin Martyr Council for sponsoring a student ” Ramez ” until his graduation in 2018 in the Melkite Catholic Patriarchal School in Beit Sahour, Shepherds’ Fields near Bethlehem. The student was chosen by the council because his father suffers from a physical disability as SK Randy Galluzzi said that it was a chance to provide support all through his academic career. Ramez’s father described what the sponsorship meant for his son. ” Ramez felt loved and accompanied because of the sponsorship, and he gained more self confidence and felt more responsible because he did not want to disappoint the people that invested in his education “. Upon graduation Ramez joined a university in The Holy Land to study Information Technology. The council now is considering sponsoring two new needy Christian students.

Now during Lent is a time of Reflection and self-sacrifice. That is why you should remember your persecuted Christian brothers and sisters in the Middle East. The gift of education that you grant to a needy Christian student is like the Star of Bethlehem because you are helping the Light of Christ shine again in The Holy Land where Christians are now less than 2%. Your gift will lay the foundation for successful Christian families that will grow to populate the area where our Lord walked, preached, was crucified and rose from the dead.

Please make a motion in your council and speak about Jerusalem Students in your parish. Consider the generous gift of education for a student for 2019 and your support, will ultimately preserve Christians in The Holy Land and reverse their diminishing trend.
