A total of 143 girls and boys, ages 9–13, competed in the Knights of Columbus Hockey Challenge held in April. Students from St. Stephen’s, St. Mary’s, and St. Michael’s Catholic Elementary Schools in Cayuga, Hagersville, and Dunnville took part in the event.
Each participant took 15 shots on a net featuring openings with different point values. The score sheets of the champions from each division will now be compared with those of champions from five other schools across Ontario to determine the Provincial Champion.
As this is a new program, there were no District or Regional competitions held this year. Organizers are hopeful the program will continue to grow and attract greater participation at the district, regional, and international levels next year.
Shown in the photos are the champions from each school.
