ONTARIO COUNCILS SUPPORT ORPHANS
In 1882, Blessed Father Michael McGivney, founded the Knights of Columbus to protect the widows and orphans and to provide spiritual support for Catholic men. Orphans for Jesus is the unique initiative in the Knights of Columbus that is fulfilling the vision of Blessed Father Michael McGivney. Orphans for Jesus features eight orphanages in Poland, Lebanon, in the Holy Land and other countries. This Christian Refugee Relief initiative made it easy for councils and parishioners to donate and help orphans. Orphans for Jesus recently made the following donations to these orphanages: C$5000 to the Caritas and Knights of Columbus Ukranian Orphanage in Poland, C$5000 to The Holy Family Children’s Home known as Bethlehem Creche that belongs to the Daughters of Charity of St Vincent de Paul, in the Holy Land, C$5000 to Centre Saint Charbel Orphanage, Baabdath, in Lebanon that belongs to the Sisters of the Two Sacred Hearts, C$ 1000 to the Happy Childhood Home of the Allepine Sisters, in Our Lady of Annunciation Convent in Zeraya Lebanon, and an anonymous donor made two generous donations to Foyer de la Providence in South Lebanon, and Foyer De L’AMITIE in Zahle, Lebanon.
