ONLINE MEMBERSHIP

The Knights of Columbus offers membership to practical Catholic men age 18 and older. The Knights of Columbus is a Family orientated organization, striving to Unite, and Strengthen family bonds through Faith and Fun.

Candidates who join through the E Membership program will belong to the Ontario State Council.

E Members are invited to transfer to a Local Council where at that time they will take part in Welcoming Ceremonies which will further explain our Four principles of the order: Charity, Unity, Fraternity, and Patriotism.

E Members will have access to an online portal designed specifically for them with info on events in Ontario, online spiritual activities, and an online monthly newsletter. E Members can also if they so choose, attend local meetings. As an E Member you, your wife and children can volunteer your time to a local Council to help with their programs. Councils hold various types of activities revolving around six categories: Church, Community, Family, Youth, Pro Life, and Council. You are always welcome to attend and if you so wish, help out without being a member of the local Council. It is an opportunity to see the benefits of joining the local Council and getting to know the Brothers of the Council.

After signing up online you are considered a Brother Knight. With your entrance into the order you will receive access to all the benefits given to you by joining.

Each month you will receive:

About online membership

What is E Membership? 2018-06-08T14:32:01+00:00

E Membership is a way for a Catholic gentleman to join our Order online.

How do you become an E Member? 2018-06-08T14:31:47+00:00

To become an E Member, you visit Supreme website and fill out an application much like a Form 100. Annual dues are paid directly to Supreme of $30.

What is the difference between e Membership and a degree Member? 2018-06-08T14:28:00+00:00

The only difference between an E Member and a degree Member is that an E member cannot vote or hold office. All other benefits of the Order are the same.

Can an E Member attend Meetings? 2018-06-08T14:28:48+00:00

Yes. An E Member can attend any Council meeting but cannot vote or run for office at these meetings. If an E Member comes to a meeting, this is the perfect opportunity for you to have an Admission Degree that night. Have your Admission DVD presentat all times and welcome the Brother Knight into our Order.

At meetings we open in the 1st section. What do we do? 2018-06-08T14:32:44+00:00

At present Supreme has asked us to continue running our meetings as normal. You may, however, make a note in the minutes that there is an E Member present.

Is E Membership just about insurance? 2018-06-08T14:33:22+00:00

No, it is about getting Catholic men joining the Order that might not otherwise have joined. All too often we hear that someone did not join earlier because “no one asked them”, this is a way for them to check out the Knights of Columbus on line and Join without having to find someone to sign them up.

Although it is true that an E Member can take advantage of our insurance program, the E Member program has been setup in a way that it is in the best interest of the Field Agent to have the member transfer to a local Council. Agents will not receive credit towards their quota if E Member does not transfer to a local Council within 60 days.

How does this benefit our Council? and How can our Council use it? 2018-06-08T14:33:48+00:00

The E Member program is a great benefit to Councils, as it can be used as a recruitment tool. We can use the program to sign new members up instantly without waiting to get them to a degree, thus eliminating the potential of losing a member due to long wait time. Once you have signed the member through the program, your Council can get him involved immediately. Another benefit is, new members are coming to YOU, not us asking them! When a member comes to us, the chances are far greater that this gentleman will be an active Council member.

Can an E Member transfer to a local Council? 2018-06-08T14:34:08+00:00

Yes. Supreme has made this process very easy for us. They have developed paperless transfers for E Members through Member Management. Once the brother has received his Admission Degree, he can be instantly transferred online to your roster.

Once an E Member transfers to my Council do they pay dues to us or still to Supreme? 2018-06-08T14:34:30+00:00

Once an E Member transfers to a local Council he is no longer an E Member and belongs to the local Council. Dues at this point are paid to the local Council. If the member transfers within the first year of joining, a credit will be given to the local Council he is joining for the dues paid at signing as an E Member.

Why was this program developed? 2018-06-08T14:34:54+00:00

As we all know, the world has changed and continues to change. We no longer put pen to paper but now write emails. We no longer go to the library to do research but go online. Today’s generation is a technological one, and if we wish to bring in new younger members, we need to adapt. This is the reason for E Membership. It is a fast, easy way for our‘technology-based society” to be welcomed into our Order.

If I sign up an E member do I get credit with Supreme? 2018-06-08T14:35:13+00:00

Yes. Just like when you sign up a member now and provide your membership number on the Form 100, there is a place on the E Membership application to do the same. Supreme will then credit you as bringing in a new member.

If an E Member belongs to no local Council what do they belong to? 2018-06-08T14:35:32+00:00

True, an E Member does not identify with any local Council. An E Member is a member of the Ontario State Council. This Ontario State Council is where, through their online experience with the web portal, they will see what we are doing here in Ontario and what great work we do. It is through these experiences that the new E Members will receive a sample of who we are and give them a hunger for more, thus wanting to join a local Council to be part of our works.

How do we know these members are Catholic and meet the criteria of being a Knight? 2018-06-08T14:35:54+00:00

Upon applying for membership, they are asked if they are a “baptised Catholic male”, “A practical Catholic”, and agree to abide by the Laws and Rules of the Knights of Columbus. They then agree that if these statements are false they will be removed from our Order and from any and all benefits including insurance. To verify their statements to be true, each new member must visit with an insurance agent. During this interview, the agent obtains all the same info that aAdmission Committee would for a Degree Member. Once this process is complete the member is free to transfer to a local Council or remain an E Member.
