CHRISTMAS is the right time to put your HOLY LAND RESOLUTION and FAITH into ACTION. So during the Pandemic, Leave No Christian Refugee Behind. In the 113th Knights of Columbus Ontario State Convention in 2016, I submitted the Holy Land Resolution which was passed with a unanimous vote. The summary is that: as the Holy Land is where our Lord Savior Jesus Christ was born, preached, crucified and rose from the dead and also where the Apostles walked and preached, therefore Ontario State Council encourages all Knights of Columbus councils to annually support the Holy Land through prayer and financial assistance. Let each of us ask ourselves after 4 years if we have put this Holy Land Resolution into action?
One way is through Jerusalem Students, which during 2020 has transferred C$30,000 in education scholarships and will be transferring C$ 15,000 in December to the Melkite Catholic Patriarchate School in the Holy Land who have been facing huge difficulties due to the pandemic as the parents lost their jobs, tourism stopped so they are unable to pay the school fees of their children. Sponsor the education of needy Christian students suffering from economic and other difficulties. This will lay the foundation for successful Christian families that will grow to populate the area, thus strengthening the alarmingly diminishing Christian presence, which is now less than 2%. The program received the Supreme Council International Youth Service Award. Thanks to you 24 students have already graduated while being sponsored and joined universities for higher learning. Another 75 students are still being sponsored. This will also get councils credits towards their Columbian & Star Awards.
