St. Joseph Syriac Council # 17309 in Mississauga was born early June. Most Reverend Canada Syriac Bishop Mar Antoine Nassif & Rev. Abouna Khalid Karomi, and 4 deacons also joined the Admission Degree that was run by our State Deputy Elect Sir Knight David Peters assisted by District Deputy 102 Bro. Joseph Remedios and Grand Knight Hikmat Dandan. The Syriac Catholic community in Iraq & the middle east is one of the oldest Christian Communities in the world that existed 80 years after the birth of Our Lord Jesus Christ and who till today speak a language close to Aramaic the language of Christ. Fr. Gregory Kelly Assembly & St. Andre Bessette Assembly arranged an Honor Guard for the Mass celebrating the end of the Holy Month of Mary during May. It is worthy to mention that during the 134th Supreme Convention in Toronto, His Beatitude Ignatius Joseph III Younan, Patriarch of the Syriac Catholic Church of Antioch who is a Knights of Columbus member said
” First, among the Catholic Charity Organizations, I would like to warmly thank the Knights of Columbus for their Christian solidarity in supporting the suffering people in Syria and Iraq. Your founder, the Venerable Father Michael J. McGivney, had an inspiring vision of how Catholics would live their Christian calling, in a very turbulent and hostile world “.
