Memorial Mass for deceased members

Submitted by Paul O'NeillMsgr. Paul J. Meyer Members of Council 4916 along with the Catholic Women's League members celebrated a Memorial Mass on November 9/23 for our deceased members. Our Chaplain Father Ed celebrated the Mass at St. Mary of the Visitation Church, Cambridge. Following the Mass a social was enjoyed by the attendees .

joint mass and Picnic

Submitted by Paul O'NeillSt. Bahnam Council 17627On Sunday, September 17/23 a joint mass was celebrated with St. Bahnam Syriac Parish and St. Gregory Parish on the occasion of the Feast of St. Gregory. The Mass was celebrated by Bishop Lobsinger and Father Khalid the pastor of both Parishes.The event included a joint picnic with games and music for the participants. Knights from both parishes helped with this event which was the first joint event with both Parishes

Support for Food Bank

Submitted by Paul O'Neill Msgr. Paul J. Meyer Members of Msgr. Paul J. Meyer Council 4916 (Cambridge, Ontario) has always supported the Cambridge Self Help Food Bank. This year the food bank is particularly in need of funds. A local restaurant organized a "Dinner on The Grand" with all proceeds going to the Food Bank. Therefore Council 4916 purchased tickets for five couples to attend the dinner. At the June meeting the attendance draw awarded these to five lucky members.

Mother's Day Lunch

The Council invited the parishioners of St. Gregory Church to attend as well. GK Lou Lynsdale, Father Khalid and DD Paul O'Neill welcomed all the attendees to the well attended family event.

Canadian Food for Children

Meyer Brother Norbert Oberle of Council 4916 each year has approached schools prior to Halloween to explain what the charity, Canadian Food For Children does and how it operates. He invites the children to consider sharing their trick-or treat treats with poor families around the world. A bucket is provided for each classroom into which treats can be deposited. The buckets are then collected after halloween and delivered to the Canadian Food for children warehouse in Mississauga.They are shipped to various 3rd world Countries where the treats are distributed.The buckets themselves are very valuable to [...]

Parish Lunch

Submitted by Paul O'Neill St. Bahnam Council 17627 St. Bahnam Council 17627 hosted a lunch for parishioners of St. Bahnam Church, Cambridge on Sunday, November 6/22 after the 12:00 p.m. mass.  Parishioners of St. Gregory Church were also invited to attend and enjoy Eastern food. This was the first luncheon put on by the Council. The Council Chaplain Father Khalid drew the winning ticket on the draw.

St Joseph Icon Pilgrimage

Submitted by Paul O'NeillGaltGalt Council 2184, Cambridge was part of the St. Joseph Icon's pilgrimage through District 7. Financial Secretary Bert Sousa, Treasurer Selwyn Langois and Deacon Terry Osmar greeted parishioners during the event. The Icon visited three Churches on its way around the Councils in District 7 in January.

Food Drive

Meyer Council 4916 The most recent Brother to join our Council, Brother Matt Foran accompanied by his father Brother Gary Foran organized a very successful Food Drive in his neighbourhood. A total of 1500 pounds of food and $5000 was collected and donated to the local Food Bank. Brother Matt is the third generation of his family to belong to Council 4916.
