Blessed Fr. McGivney relic

Submitted by Joe BodnarS.K. Leonard T. Smith Squires CircleOn Friday November 7th the S.K. Leonard T. Smith Squires Circle 4742 Oshawa were given a brief history lesson on the life of Fr. McGivney by counselor Joe Bodnar. After the presentation each Squire got to hold and view the relic of Blessed Fr. McGivney and they all prayed the prayer for his canonization. The Squires were very interested in learning about his life and the miracle credited to him becoming Blessed.

Coats for Kids Presentation to Ottawa Catholic School Board

Submitted by Nicholas QuadriniSt. Patrick's Basilica OttawaMembers of St. Patrick Basilica Council 485 presented the Ottawa Catholic School Board with 624 coats as part of the council's Coats for Kids campaign. Last year, the council raised almost $10,000 (through the generosity of St. Patrick's Basilica Parishioners) to purchase the coats, and also took advantage of the Buy One Get One Free offer from the Supreme Council to double their coat purchase. With such a generous response from parishioners, the Council managed to overwhelm to capacity for the Ottawa Catholic School Board to sort, distribute and deliver the coats from their own [...]

District 14 Councils Food Drive

Submitted by Bruce SuttonOur Lady of CharityOn October 25th the six councils in Thunder Bay (District 14), conducted their semi-annual food drive in support of the Dew Drop Inn, a local soup kitchen. Together, the councils had 68 Knights and 21 non-Knights volunteer and they collected at five grocery stores. The community was very generous once again as the Knights collected 20 truck loads of food and $5,600 in donations. The Dew Drop Inn was very thankful and noted this food drive will help feed the hungry over the winter.

Fergus Duffy Council #1454, through the Pilgrim Icon Program, received a replica of the renowned Sacred Heart of Jesus image, originally painted in 1767. While the original remains in Rome, this faithful reproduction personally blessed by Pope Francis is part of a global collection of icons traveling the world for veneration and prayer in parishes everywhere. We are sincerely grateful to Fr. Piotr Jurzyk for graciously hosting the pilgrimage icon, and Fr.
